Two New York entrepreneurs are behind Hotels By Day, a business that allows people to rent a hotel room for the morning, midday or afternoon without having to pay for the night. If you make a reservation using the Hotels By Day app, which you can do in “three simple taps at no charge,” all you have to do is show up and pay the hotel. The business Hotels By Day is being pitched on Shark Tank (February 17).

According to the Hotel By Day website, 450 hotels in 50 cities are using the service. Of course, rates vary by location and hotel. For example, you can reserve a room at the Best Western Plaza Hotel in Manhattan which will cost $65 (10am to 3pm) but a meeting room that can hold 18 people at The Wall Street Inn will cost $295 (8:30 to 12:30). Shark Tank airs Fridays at 9pm on ABC.
