The DC Cannabis Coalition is giving out free weed on inauguration day — and in time to wake and bake too. Just head on over to Dupont Circle, work your way to the west side, and put your hand out. Or, you know, follow your nose. The generosity starts at 8am. Recreational marijuana is legal in the District of Columbia, where you can carry around up to two ounces. (The Cannabis Commission is giving away much smaller portions than that, however.)
For all those who think they were hallucinating when the election results came in, that was just the beginning: here comes 2017, brought to you by Donald Trump and Mark Burnett and kicking off for real in Washington on January 20. The weed is there just in case the situation isn’t already surreal enough for you — or if it’s just too painful — marijuana works for both. The Cannabis Coalition is using the opportunity to push for federal legislation legalizing cannabis. We’ll have to see if loads of stoned citizens watching mesmerized as Donald Trump’s hair blows wildly in the wind does anything to push the movement forward. A word to the wise: don’t bogart that joint.
