The My 600-lb Life episode ‘Cynthia’s Story’ tells the story of Cynthia Wells of Oklahoma City. A single mother with five children (2 are her biological kids; 3 are her cousin’s children) who weighs 610 lbs. Cynthia’s story is slightly different from others as she can drive a car and has kept her job (she’s a special needs teacher). She also wears makeup. But getting around isn’t easy. Her weight and challenged mobility have kept her from seeing her daughter Ukiah at dance recitals. Cynthia recognizes her limitations and how it’s affecting her children so she pursues gastric bypass surgery with Dr. Nowzaradan in Houston.
In one scene, after dropping off Ukiah at dance class, Cynthia says “I want to be there for my kids; that’s what a parent is supposed to do.” My 600-lb Life airs Wednesdays at 8pm on TLC.
