Sen. Elizabeth Warren implored her congressional colleagues to overturn President Donald Trump’s executive order suspending U.S. immigration from seven Muslim-majority nations. Warren said the country is “in crisis,” that it’s “a constitutional and a moral crisis.” Warren said congress has the power to overturn the order. “We have that power,” she said. “All we need is the courage to stand up and do what is right.”
“I call on the rest of the Senate to overturn Donald Trump’s illegal, unconstitutional, and immoral executive order,” Warren said. Trump’s order halts immigration from seven nations:
- Iran
- Iraq
- Syria
- Sudan
- Libya
- Yemen
- Somalia
The executive order, which has been met with derision by Democrats, international leaders and Republicans like John McCain, suspends entry of all refugees to the U.S.
