Donald Trump has selected David Shulkin as the man to fix Veterans Affairs — a priority for his administration, he claimed on the campaign trail. Trump promised to “make the VA great again by firing the corrupt and incompetent VA executives who let our veterans down.”
To fulfill this promise, Trump has nominated Shulkin, who is currently the Under Secretary of Health for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Yes, Shulkin is a top VA executive. Shulkin was nominated to his current post by President Barack Obama in 2015. Shulkin is a physician who previously worked in the public sector. Like Trump he was educated at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received his medical degree and Trump an MBA.
