In the Hawaii Five-0 episode ‘Ka makuahine a me ke keikikane (Mother and Son)’, Catherine (Michelle Borth) returns to tell Five-0 that McGarrett’s (Alex O’Loughlin) mother Doris has been captured and is set for execution after trying to free Wo Fat’s imprisoned father. Of course McGarrett fights to save her. (Note: Last time we saw Doris McGarrett was in 2013.)
Doris McGarrett is portrayed by Christine Lahti. She’s known for her roles on The Blacklist (Laurel Hitchin), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (Executive ADA Sonya Paxton), Jack & Bobby (Grace McCallister), and Chicago Hope (Dr. Kathyrn Austin), among others. Lahti is also well recognized for her roles in the films Housekeeping (Sylvia), Running on Empty with River Phoenix and Judd Hirsch (Annie Pope), and Swing Shift with Goldie Hawn (Hazel). Fun fact: Lahti’s daughter, Emma Schlamme, plays the young Doris McGarrett on the episode. Emma’s father is TV producer Thomas Schlamme (The West Wing, Sports Night, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip). Hawaii Five-0 airs Fridays at 9pm on CBS.
