“Thanks for sharing your pain and turning it into purpose!” writes one admirer of the candid actress and singer Jana Kramer, who recently revealed that she was in an abusive relationship with her first husband. A competitor on this season’s Dancing with the Stars, Kramer has made it a habit to summon her courage. Purpose is surely Kramer’s goal in sharing her story. Kramer revealed the horrors of her abusive first marriage to People magazine in hopes that it will “inspire other women 2 get help.” Kramer said her first husband tried to kill her.
@kramergirl you’re amazing & so strong! ❤️❤️❤️

Kramer’s fans reacted with a mixture of outrage, pride and — overwhelmingly — gratitude. “Your strength is so inspiring,” reads one typical reaction. “Your telling your story matters so much,” reads another. Fans praised Kramer’s public statement especially because she’s a mother to a little girl, Jolie — saying that revealing her truth makes her a powerful role model (“such a good role model for everyone, including your precious baby girl!”). The heartbreaking part about the reactions, however, is the horrible commonness of abusive relationships it exposed — as many women said things like “I’ve been where u r” and “us little people down here who have been through it also… thank you so much.” Kramer’s candor alone has already helped many.
@kramergirl I read your story and have to say that your courage is off the carts. My best friend had the same problem with her husband
