Spokane, Washington businessman Doug Carlile was murdered in his home on December 15, 2013. His business partner, James Henrikson was found guilty of hiring a man, Timothy Suckow, to to kill Carlile. The Carlile family knew Henrikson was behind the murder as Carlile told his family just days before his death: “If I disappear or wake up with bullets in my back, promise me you will let everyone know that James Henrikson did it.”
Henrikson was later found guilty. After a failed escape attempt, Henrikson was sentenced to life in prison. At the sentencing, Henrikson addressed the court and said: “First of all, I’d like to thank the court. I believe this should’ve been a death penalty case from the beginning.” He proceeded to read a poem and talked about abortion and how it is “murder-for-hire.” He also read Psalm 127:1 (below) which he said reminded him of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He did not speak of his crimes. Dateline NBC airs Fridays at 9pm on NBC.
Psalm 127:1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
