The Season 4 premiere episode of The Goldbergs pays tribute to the 1985 John Hughes film The Breakfast Club. School has started and Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) is excited to get her teaching certification to become a substitute teacher. But when she shows up at school, she ends up sending her own kids to Saturday detention. Principal Ball oversees the kids in the library.
Principal Ball is Stephen Tobolowsky. He’s known for his roles on Silicon Valley (Jack Barker), The Mindy Project (Marc Shulman), Californication (Stu Beggs), Glee (Sandy Ryerson), Heroes (Bob Bishop), and CSI: Miami (ASA Don Haffman), among many others. Tobolowsky is also recognized for his roles in the films Thelma & Louise (Max), Groundhog Day (Ned), and Memento (Sammy Jankis). The Goldbergs airs Wednesdays at 8pm on ABC.
