On the Chesapeake Shores episode ‘We’re Gaining a Daughter,’ while Abby O’Brien (Meghan Ory) goes to New York to fight for custody of her daughters, her parents Mick (Treat Williams) and Nell receive worrying news about their soldier son Kevin. His military unit has been missing for 48 hours in the desert. Feeling helpless, all they can do is wait by the phone.
Nell O’Brien is portrayed by Diane Ladd. She most recently starred in the TV series Enlightened with her daughter Laura Dern. Ladd is also recognized for her roles in the films Joy (Mimi), Primary Colors (Mamma Stanton), David Lynch’s Wild at Heart starring daughter Laura Dern (Marietta Fortune), and Roman Polanski’s Chinatown (Ida Sessions), among many others. Chesapeake Shores airs Sundays at 9pm on Hallmark Channel.
