After a stunning performance in which not even a dropped ball kept the judges and crowd from standing and roaring with applause, the great juggler Viktor Kee lit up the stage on America’s Got Talent. He lit it up as brightly as one of the glowing spheres he mesmerized with. Only Heidi Klum’s perpetual smile was as radiant as Viktor Kee’s performance, as the man in the nude bodysuit brought a level of juggling artistry to the stage that was more ballet than circus.

That difference is what inspired AGT judge Howie Mandel to call Kee the “Baryshnikov of Jugglers” — referencing the great Russian-American ballet dancer. When Mandel said it, Kee’s face beamed with pride. Viewers could tell looking at that face that Mandel had hit upon exactly how Kee hoped to be perceived — as an artist, not a trickster. Mission accomplished for this unique talent. Kee has already done a service to the juggling art by his performance on the show — how far can he take it?
