Arizona Cardinals’ all-world (and All-Pro) defensive back Patrick Peterson appreciates a good deal when he sees one. And a good teammate, too. He’s seen both now in Tyrann Mathieu, who just hit the contract jackpot with a $62.5 million extension. Mathieu has been a Cinderella story, if Cinderella had started off wearing awesome glass slippers, but with cracks in them. The monstrously talented safety — who got his new deal despite a late season ACL tear that could steal some of his juice — is a fan favorite and a real hero. Mathieu has starred in a genuine, inspirational story about hardwork and determination overcoming some doubts about his readiness. After the injury the Cardinals — led by Peterson — dedicated there season to Mathieu.
Mathieu has battled back before, after another ACL tear during his 2013 rookie season. Peterson gave a flavor of the Cardinals’ unique family feel as he congratulated his “baby brother” on Twitter.
Man I’m soo happy for my baby brother @Mathieu_Era he deserves ever penny!!!
