Frito-Lay is always there for you. But did you ever stop and wonder how? How exactly you’ve never had to watch a football game without them? It’s because behind the scenes — behind all those tasty bowls at bowl games — Frito-Lay operates the seventh largest commercial trucking fleet in the U.S. Yup, about 22,000 vehicles are hard at work making sure you never find your chip bowl empty.
A growing part of the massive Frito-Lay fleet is trucks that run on compressed natural gas (CNG). CNG is domestically produced and, replacing diesel trucks at Frito-Lay, it results in 23% less greenhouse gas being pumped into the atmosphere. Last month Frito-Lay set a record for its CNG trucks when they drove more than 100 million miles. It’s another good recipe from the PepsiCo-owned innovator: less diesel fuel being used and more snacks at your finger tips.
