Kerry Woolard is part of the “unconventional speaker” lineup at the Donald Trump Republican National Convention. Woolard is a wine expert who runs the Trump Winery in Virginia. Trump Winery opened a luxury hotel on its 1,300 acres in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains just last year. It’s near where Thomas Jefferson plied his ambitious wine trade at Monticello.
Donald Trump’s son Eric Trump is listed as president of Trump Winery. Woolard is listed as the General Manager of Trump Vineyards, where she is responsible for “overseeing all operations for the 1,300 acre estate.” The Trump Winery is one of more than 30 members of the Monticello American Viticultural Area, a designation based on Jefferson’s vision for American wines to become world class. (Being a founding father, Jefferson’s “make America great” didn’t have the “again” that Trump uses.) Woolard is speaking on a night when the RNC focus is on the economy. She’s expected to talk about jobs, but she may also look to draw parallels between Trump and Jefferson.
