On Devious Maids, Carmen Luna (Rosalyn Sanchez) has an awkward, strained relationship with her daughter Daniela (Dani). Carmen was a teen mom who gave Dani up for adoption — to her cousin Josefina (Elizabeth Rodriguez). Growing up, Dani thought Carmen was her cousin. In Season 4, Dani comes to Los Angeles to meet her cousin Carmen who quickly shifts into mommy mode when she observes Dani’s bad behavior. “It’s the boys, the drugs, you’re crashing cars,” she yells at Dani. The reprimand backfires. “For now on, you’re nothing to me,” Daniela tells Carmen which prompts a breakdown into tears.
Daniela Mercado is portrayed by Sol Rodríguez. The young actress was born in Argentinia and is of Spanish and Italian descent. She is known for her roles on Tierra de Reyes (Lucia Crespo), Demente Criminal (Fernanda Sanchez), Marido En Alquiler (Sol Porras), and Nickelodeon Latin America series Grachi (Merceds “Mecha” Estevez). Rodriquez will appear next in the TV movie Urban Cowboy starring Riley Smith of Nashville. Devious Maids airs Mondays at 9pm on Lifetime.
