There is no bigger talent up for grabs in the NBA this offseason than 2015 NBA MVP Kevin Durant of the OKC Thunder. But there is one player who is bigger, literally, on the OKC streets right now than Durant — and that’s Thunder center Steven Adams. An artist named MRG Hoerte who specializes in massive murals just painted Adams as big as a Rushmore president (see below).
Nervous Thunder fans are hoping that Durant will drive by the big Adams likeness often this summer as he weighs his options. It was Adams’ strong play that added to the Durant, Russell Westbrook dynamism enough to make the Thunder seem like they had a genuine chance to win it all. (They squandered a 3-1 lead in the Conference Finals.) Before Durant takes off for the Lakers or Wizards, he’d do well to consider that Adams won’t be around grabbing boards and finishing around the rim for him in LA or DC — and the big mural might be a healthy reminder. Nobody is bigger in OKC than Kevin Durant in real life, but they don’t have Steven Adams clones just waiting in other cities. He looks mean, doesn’t he?
