LeBron James doesn’t need much to get him going. But if he does all he has to do his listen to the chatter – -there’s always plenty. The King says he tries to take the high road — he’s been doing it for 13 years — but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t hear things. Not long after Klay Thompson characterized James as having “his feelings hurt” by Draymond Green’s trash talk, tough guy former NBA forward Antonio Davis said this on ESPN Radio about James’s attitude on the court.
“Even I want to call him that too. Stop complaining about not getting calls. Just run somebody over. Force them to make a call. If not you are a bit**.” (The last word rhymes with rich.)
Again, James doesn’t need Green, Thompson or Davis to fire him up — they’ve all been non-factors in the majority of James’s SEVEN trips to the NBA Finals. But something, maybe just the threat of defeat, was on his mind during Game 5 as he scored 41 points in a 112-97 win. Now to be sure, Davis didn’t actually call King James a bit**. He came close though. James complains about calls (or non-calls) just like most superstars. But saying he’s not tough is just plain wrong.
