Brazilian soccer giant Neymar is a one-named superstar who fits right in with the Jordan Brand. Sort of the way Federer does. He’s clutch, he’s got style to spare, and he’s the man on a team that plays the “beautiful game” with passion and purpose. And you know what else Neymar is this June? He’s in America, as Brazil competes in the COPA America Centenario.
So the beginning of June seemed like a good time to add the Air Jordan Neymar kicks to the kick-off of the prestigious month-long COPA. The $200 retro is only half throwback — somehow it’s pretty futuristic looking too. (Maybe that’s just the idea of the Jordan Brand mixing it up with soccer?) And the Jordan Neymar mashup is stamped all over it — with both Neymar’s #10 and Jordan’s #23 on the side heels and Jordan’s Jumpman superimposed over Neymar’s six-box letter logo. The Jordan designers showed Neymar every single Air Jordan iteration in existence — and the Air Jordan 5 was the “one he felt most connected to.”
