Two Brazilian brothers, Rodolfo and Alexis Saccoman, pitched their business, My Therapy Journal, on Shark Tank in 2009. It’s an online platform where people can keep a private journal and software can track key words used to help track people’s progress with a specific diagnosis or mood. When the brothers revealed that they were talking to insurance giant Aetna, Shark investors Kevin O’Leary and Robert Herjavec offered them a deal ($80k for 51 percent), which the Saccomans accepted.
According to Rodolfo, the deal fell through after the show. After just one call with Herjavec and O’Leary, “There was no follow-up. Just nothing.” The MyTherapyJournal website is still up but Rodolfo has moved on. After Shark Tank, he became an investment advisor for Morgan Stanley Smith Barney before launching his own business, AdMobilize.com in 2011. While Dr. Alexis Saccoman continues to practice in Colorado, he also has made an urgent appeal on indiegogo for $20,000 — otherwise “the website will close.”
