Brandt Snedeker is playing his ninth Masters and there is a real feeling around this 36-year-old Tour veteran that 2016 is his year. The wise Snedeker was spotted walking the back nine with two-time Masters champ Ben Crenshaw and his sage caddie Carl Jackson during a practice round. Snedeker has had three Top 15 finishes at Augusta, including a third place finish in 2008.
The 2007 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, Snedeker was the surprise FedEx Cup champ in 2012 — an honor he sealed with a win at the Tour Championship. He owns eight PGA Tour wins overall. Snedeker got off to a good start on Thursday. He was -2 shortly after making the turn with the tender lead in Jordan Spieth’s bag at -5.* With the early Thursday leaderboard showing the names like Spieth, Paul Casey, Jason Day, Justin Rose and Bubba Watson, Snedeker’s name did not look out of place. He is a good way to wager too, at 50-1. Day was the pre-tournament favorite at 7-1.
*Friday afternoon update: Completing his second round early, Snedeker remains on the first page of the Masters leaderboard at -1.
