On the Bates Motel episode “Til Death Do You Part,” while Norma (Vera Farmiga) and Romero (Nestor Carbonell) get married at City Hall, Norman (Freddie Highmore) struggles to accept his new surroundings at the mental institution Pineview. When Norman meets with therapist Dr. Edwards, Norman tells him: “I’m only here because it means so much to her (his mother, Norma). She would be upset if I didn’t (commit himself).” And then Norman breaks down and says fearfully, “There’s something wrong with my mother.”
Dr. Edwards is portrayed by Damon Gupton. He’s known for his roles on The Player (Detective Cal Brown), Empire (Detective Calvin Walker), The Divide (Adam Page), Suits (James Quelling), Rake (Marcus Barzmann), and Prime Suspect (Detective Evrard Velerio), among others. Gupton is also recognized for his roles in the films Whiplash (Mr. Kramer) and This Is 40 (the colonoscopy technician). Bates Motel airs Mondays at 9pm on A&E.
