The new TV show Sisters In Law follows a close group of six successful black female lawyers in Houston. Some of the six are criminal lawyers, some are civil lawyers. One thing they have in common is working in a male dominated (66%), largely white (82%) field.
One of the six lawyers is Monique Sparks who practices criminal and family law. Handling both keeps her in and out of the courtroom every day. Sparks considers herself more than a lawyer, more like a “social worker on steroids.” She also believes in the power of prayer. Sparks says prays for her clients whether they want it or not. “It’s not a high society job. It’s a down and dirty for the people job, and I love it.” She runs her own firm, The Sparks Law Firm. Sisters In Law premieres March 24 at 10pm on WEtv.
