In the 4th quarter of 2015, the Trump campaign reported spending $405,038.84 on hats. His payroll for the period was a mere $306,743.98.

That’s a lot of hats. Rival Ben Carson, who finished fourth in Iowa, spent just $135K on hats. And Ted Cruz, who walked away with Iowa in a surprise? Cruz doesn’t single out hats as a line item. He puts hat expenditures in seven different categories — with shirts, with posters, with pins and more. So it’s hard to say. But those seven categories top $400,00 in Cruz expenditures.
