The real question on the new Lifetime reality show The Mother/Daughter Experiment: Celebrity Edition is whether Courtney Stodden will break out her famous duct tape bikini. The show, after all, is about mother/daughter bonding (and lack of it) and Stodden and her mother have some issues. What’s that got to do with a duct tape bikini?
Well when Courtney finally broke free of her mother’s management clutches and signed with Rich Kid Mafia in 2015, she celebrated by posing in a self-fashioned duct tape bikini. (We can’t embed it; she’s just too naked.) The fashion statement was a strange symbol of independence, but maybe Courtney was saying I’m no longer tied up, taped down, held back by my mother’s wiles. Of course there’s the large possibility that there was no metaphor here at all and Coutney was just saying look at me. Anyway, it worked.
