On The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kenya Moore continues to struggle, to come to grips with her feelings of abandonment. Her parents — Patricia Moore and Ronald Grant — were just 16-years-old when Kenya was conceived. When Patricia talked about giving Kenya up for adoption, Ronald asked his mother Doris Grant to raise Kenya, which she did. But it wasn’t easy.

Kenya has always been very open about her non-existent relationship with her mother. After winning the title of Miss USA in 1993, Moore said about her mother, “I can honestly say I don’t love her.” When reached for comment at that time, Patricia Moore, a special education teacher in Detroit, told People magazine: “I’m a very private person,” she says. “It doesn’t matter how dim Kenya portrays me, because I know exactly who I am.” Don’t hold your breath for Patricia Moore to appear on RHOA but Kenya’s father Ronald has — and he will reappear in Season 8. When Kenya cries to him, “I needed you when I was a teenager. I needed my dad,” he replies, “We do the best we can with the cards we’re dealt.” Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sundays at 8pm on Bravo.
