On the New Girl episode “Jury Duty,” Jess (Zooey Deschanel) is really super excited about being called for jury duty — but then she discovers she might be promoted at work. Conflict. Meanwhile, Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Cece (Hannah Simone) move forward with their wedding plans which includes the selection of groomsmen — and that involves the antics of Schmidt’s cousin, Big Schmidt.
Big Schmidt is portrayed by Rob Riggle. The retired US Marine Corps Reserve officer is best known for his roles in the films 21 Jump Street (Mr. Walters), The Internship (Randy), The Hangover, Let’s Be Cops, and Dumb and Dumber To (Travis). He’s also recognized from Saturday Night Live (2004-2005) and as a correspondent on The Daily Show (2006-2008). Riggle is currently performing comedy skits on Fox NFL Sunday. New Girl airs Tuesdays at 8pm on FOX.
