During the sixth and final season of Downton Abbey, Edith (Laura Carmichael) goes to London to check on Sketch magazine. When she discovers that her troublesome editor Mr. Skinner (Paul Putner) hasn’t done anything to get the articles printed in time, she fires him. But that doesn’t leave her off the hook. The articles need to be printed. Luckily for Edith she bumps into her old friend Herbert “Bertie” Pelham who offers to stay up late and help her.
Bertie is portrayed by Harry Hadden-Paton. The 34-year-old actor is best known for his roles in the Edith Piaf biopic La Vie en Rose (as Doug Davis) and The Deep Blue Sea (as Jackie Jackson) with Rachel Weisz and Tom Hiddleston. Hadden-Paton recently appeared on the BBC Series Wallander (as Hans von Enke) starring Kenneth Branagh. Downton Abbey airs Sundays at 9pm on PBS.
