Kmart owner Sears Holdings announced it will close multiple stores across the US. Kmart Stores in Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio, Kansas, Florida, Georgia, Utah and Arizona will begin liquidation sales beginning January 24. Those stores include Hawaii’s oldest store in Iwilei, which opened in 1992, and a 45-year-old Kmart in Daytona Beach.
Most of Kmart’s 84,500-square-foot space in Daytona will be leased to Old Time Pottery, a home décor retail chain based in Tennessee. This isn’t the first time a Kmart has been replaced by Old Time Pottery. In 2014, the Kmart in Jacksonville was also replaced by an Old Time Pottery store. There are currently more than 35 Old Time Pottery stores across 11 states.
