Google dropped the price on its popular Nexus 5X models, bringing the 32GB model below $400 for the first time and putting the Nexus 5X 16 GB model at $349. With the cut, Google may be trying to get out of its own way. Its faster, bigger Nexus 6P is now — at $499 — a full hundred bucks more than the $399 Nexus 5X with the same configuration.
Google calls its Nexus 5X the “all-around champ” and that jibes with the reviews for the phone that makes this middle-ground choice feel like the high-end choice. The Nexus 5X features — especially the cameras –are all-around excellent. Indeed, the Nexus 5X is proving to be just the kind of phone that satisfies people enough to stick around at this super serviceable level — without pining for an upgrade.
