When teenage singing sensation Shelby Brown made her first appearance on The Voice, Blake Shelton detected a southern accent and asked Shelby where she’s from. (That’s part of Blake’s effective MO to sway country singers to pick him as a coach.) Shelby said she was from a little town called Elberta, but Shelton heard Alberta. Shelby was quick to correct him, “No, Alberta is in Canada.” Blake jokingly called her a wise ass. Shelby is on Team Adam.
Shelby has given lots of thanks to her little hometown in Alabama over the course of the competition. And we say little, we mean it. Current population of Elberta is estimated at 1,634. But just 15 years ago, the population was 552. Shelby Brown (born in 1999) was part of a baby boom in Elberta, Alabama which tripled the population from 2000 to 2010. The Top 4 singers will be announced on The Voice on Tuesday, December 8 at 9pm on NBC.
