Kobe Bryant loves the bright lights and the big stage. He had another opportunity to bask in both at the “world’s most famous arena” — Madison Square Garden — on Sunday. Alas, the crowd might have been more entertained if Bryant’s understudy had been in the lineup. The Lakers legend, whose climb back from injury hasn’t been the swift summit he’d hoped, shot 6-of-19 from the field, making just two of the ten 3-pointers he attempted. He finished with 18 points.
The Knicks beat the Lakers 99-95. Bryant, who may be in his final season, played 32 minutes for the Lakers (1-5), topped only by center Roy Hibbert who also played 32 minutes plus. Bryant had three assists and two rebounds. Both teams shot 33% from three and neither team topped 39% FG percentage.
