In the first season of Empire, fans watched the character Vernon Turner fall from grace. He was Lucious Lyon’s (Terrence Howard) right hand man working beside Lucious’ son Andre (Trai Byers). But then Vernon’s addiction to cocaine got the best of him and his character was “killed off the show.” The actor portraying Vernon, Malik Yoba, delivered such a great performance on the show that some fans thought Yoba was fired from the show due to his own drug addiction, which Yoba explained was not the case.
In Season 2 of Empire, with a federal murder case hanging over his head, Lucious has it stuck in his head that the way to get him out of his legal problems is to find Vernon and make him disappear forever. There will be a lot of talk of Vernon on Empire but don’t expect to see him on screen. Yoba is working on a number of projects including his production studio Iconic 32.
