Broccoli Wad — What Happened To The Mob Guy Money Band?

The inventor of Broccoli Wad, John Ambrose, and his business partner, actor Vincent Pastore (Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero of The Sopranos), pitched their product on Shark Tank. It’s a rubber band – like the kind that holds stalks of broccoli together at the supermarket – that holds your cash. Barbara Corcoran called it “one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen on this show.” That said, Corcoran offered the two $50k for 40% if she could put Patore’s face on the product and call it “Vinnie’s Wad.”

The Broccoli Wad website is no more — but a few Broccoli Wads can be had on Amazon for under $12. And yes, the packaging does include the mug of Pastore who calls the Broccoli Wad “The ultimate money band!” Since Shark Tank, a number of Broccoli Wad competitors have surfaced.
