In Season 12 of Grey’s Anatomy, Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) is struggling at home with her two new roommates. Well, one really. Dr. Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary) is very agreeable, maybe too agreeable. Dr. Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) on the other hand is ready to tear down the walls of Meredith’s house, literally. The season premiere is titled “Sledgehammer” for a reason.

Dr. Amelia Shepherd is portrayed by Caterina Scorsone. The Canadian-born actress has been on lots of TV series including R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps and the Canadian series Power Play but Americans recognize her best as Dr. Shepard from both Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. Scorsone was also part of the cast of Crash (based on the film) with Dennis Hopper and Eric Roberts. On the big screen, Scorsone has appeared in The November Man with Pierce Brosnan and Edge of Darkness with Mel Gibson. Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8pm on ABC.
