Utah State quarterback Chuckie Keeton has had rotten luck these last two years. Two straight seasons have ended with knee injuries, not quite overshadowing the fact that Keeton has led the Aggies to 20 wins — but tossing a measure of untimely shade on his terrific collegiate career. Keeton keeps coming back like his namesake, that indomitable Chucky doll from the scary Chucky movies. But a never-say-die attitude is all Keeton shares with horror-flick Chucky — Utah State’s Chuckie is only scary to NCAA defenses.
In addition to achieving victories on the football field, Keeton is a standout academic and, by all accounts, a good guy to have around. He was just nominated for the Senior CLASS Award, which honors Div 1 seniors who’ve demonstrated excellence in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition. CLASS is an acronym standing for: Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School. A red shirt senior, Keeton’s got the stay in school part locked up. He takes on rival Utah Utes on September 11 at 9pm on ESPN2.
