The host/mentor of Startup U is Draper University founder and billionaire venture capitalist Tim Draper. Before establishing the school and the Silicon Valley venture capital firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson (and investing in Skype, Tesla, and Hotmail), Draper earned his degree in electrical engineering from Stanford and his MBA from Harvard. In 2011, he founded Draper University which claims to have funded more than 180 student ideas, totaling $20 million. Startup U will premiere on August 11 at 10pm on ABC Family.
