Fox59 reports that the FBI has raided the Indiana home of Jared Fogle, the famous — and now rich — Subway sandwich chain spokesperson. Fogle lost a ton of weight on his “Subway diet” and the company used him in ubiquitous ads to demonstrate a difference between its relatively low calorie menu as opposed to some big burger chains. Fogle looked exuberantly pleased to have lost the weight and his enthusiasm for the Subway brand proved infectious. He probably doesn’t feel that way right now.
Fogle channeled his newfound endorsement wealth into a foundation called the Jared Foundation. Earlier this year the director of the Jared Foundation, Russell Taylor, was arrested on child pornography charges — including producing child pornography. He’s in jail. The raid at Fogle’s home is believed to be related to the child pornography investigation. The Foundation has cut ties to Taylor.
