CBS has a lot at stake with Supergirl, and there has never been a better focus group for flying babes than Comic-Con International. So when Supergirl, starring Melissa Benoist, screened in San Diego this week, even confident producers held there breath. Based on the early reactions, they exhaled like superheroes afterwards.

There were some naysayers too, mostly complaining that the pilot was too packed and hoping regular episodes could slow the pace and explore. That’s what’s planned, so CBS has got to be pleased. The reviews were pretty strong for Melissa Benoist on both sides of the pace debate.
