It’s not as much as politicians who flip flop on promises make in campaign donations, but Tropical Smoothie Cafe has used the nicer kind of flip flop — the fun footwear — to raise $2.6 million for charity.
This is the 9th annual National Flip Flop Day sponsored by Tropical Smoothie Cafe. If you stop by one of their locations today between 2pm and 7pm, wearing flip flops of course, they’ll dish you a free 24 oz. Jetty Punch smoothie. Since Tropical Smoothie’s generosity was such a hit with customers, the company decided to ask for a little generosity in return. It partnered with Camp Sunshine — and has so far raised the aforementioned $2.6 million for kids and their families to attend Camp Sunshine. It’ll raise much more today. (Camp Sunshine, a beautiful idea, “offers countless families the opportunity to put aside the stress and severity of having a child with an illness and just have fun.”) The kids and their parents, brothers and sisters can even wear flip flops!
