Rapinoe is using the stage and the platform that comes with it to promote the nonprofit Athlete Ally, an organization dedicated to “building a future where sports welcome everyone, without prejudice or stereotypes, by activating athletic communities to champion LGBT equality.” Rapinoe, with typical verve. tweeted her support by saying she supports it because “I’m gay as Christmas!!!” What’s nice is it’s easy to imagine Rapinoe would support the Athlete Ally even if she wasn’t like Christmas at all!
