Angelina Rodriguez is sitting on California’s Death Row for poisoning her husband Frank Rodriquez. She killed him to receive their $250k insurance policy money. The murder case brought up evidence that years before, when married to another man, Angelina killed her 13-month-old daughter by shoving a piece of a pacifier down the infant’s throat. She collected $714k from the manufacturer (Gerber) and $50,000 from a life insurance policy she purchased for the child just weeks prior to her death.

During the trial, Angelina’s mental health and upbringing was detailed. Angelina was raised in a working-class neighborhood of Queens, New York, with her sister. Their father left the family when they were young. They were raised by their mother who worked as a nurse. Angelina’s sister confirmed that both girls were molested by their grandfather when he came to babysit. Angelina said she first attempted suicide at age 8, with sleeping pills. As an adult, Rodriguez has been diagnosed with depression and anxiety disorders. After her arrest for killing her husband, “doctors concluded that she also suffered symptoms of manic and borderline personality disorders but was competent to stand trial.”
