Bear Grylls is the British adventure who is currently hosting the NBC survival show The Island. He’s also an author of many inspirational books and his autobiography, the bestseller Mud, Sweat, and Tears. Now he’s an author of fiction. Ghost Flight was inspired by his grandfather’s secret mission to hunt down Nazi scientists. Proof of Brigadier Ted Grylls’ mission was discovered in the family attic. Story goes, Gylls stumbled across his grandfather’s World War Two military trunk while helping his mother move out of the family house.
Grylls shared his discovery with Damien Lewis, a former war reporter turned thriller writer. Lewis helped Grylls write Ghost Flight. Grylls made sure to include a modern-day adventurer in the story. Asked if he would play the character if the book is turned into a movie, Gryllis said, “I always like a new challenge.” The Island airs Mondays at 8pm on NBC.
