The new Rolls-Royce convertible will be called a ‘drophead’ like Rolls-Royce convertibles have always been called. After all, if you’re driving a Rolls, you don’t want to convert into anything else. For wind in your hair, just drophead. The idiomatic terminology suits the Rolls brand, which tends to effortlessly distinguish itself. The new drophead Rolls-Royce will be called the Dawn, reviving a name that Rolls-Royce started using in 1949. But you’ll have to wait until next year to see the new Dawn. In the meantime, we have to rely on the insiders’ opinions.
Eric Sheperd, president of Rolls-Royce North America, told Business Insider that the new Dawn is “the most beautiful Rolls-Royce” he’s ever seen. It’s a topless companion for the Wraith (seen above).
