Duke guard Grayson Allen sent the most viewers to Google during the 2015 NCAA National Championship. All those people had a question: who the heck is Grayson Allen? Besides being the guy going to the hoop like a right-handed James Harden, scoring 16 points off the bench and pressuring Wisconsin into a critical turnover, Allen is just a freshman guard who had trouble getting primo minutes this season on a Duke team saturated with talent.
Allen won’t have that problem next year (though Duke, rest assured, will be loaded again.) Because not only did the young guard make it unlikely Coach K will want to go to battle without him, Allen will also be one of the few Duke veterans left as a sophomore. Allen’s fellow freshman teammates Jahlil Okafor, Tyus Jones and Justise Winslow are probably skipping down Tobacco Road to the NBA–and taking their rings with them. By the way, the outstanding guard from Jacksonville, Florida who looked dart-like and tiny out there at the massive Lucas Oil Stadium? Grayson Allen stands 6’4″–that’s how big these players are now.
