The age-old debate about who is the best James Bond may have been just settled. No less an authority than Bond girl Honor Blackman (Goldfinger‘s Pussy Galore) has stepped into the fray and said that Daniel Craig is easily the best 007. She thinks he’s a better actor than Sean Connery, “and that Sean would acknoweldge it.” Uproxx is reporting that Blackman says that while “Sean was perfection as Bond only as Ian Fleming wrote it,” being “very, very sexy” and possessing “that ridiculous accent,” Daniel Craig is “capable of so much more … Daniel is probably the best actor that ever played Bond.”
Blackman didn’t stop there. She also weighed in on the Internet’s current hot topic: could there be a black Bond? (specifically, could Idris Elba play Bond?) She sees no issue. “Why can’t he be a black man? You have to be a good actor and you’ve got to be a very attractive man – that’s half the battle – otherwise you can’t play Bond.” Former 007 Roger Moore would agree … maybe. Craig’s new Bond film – Spectre – opens this fall.
