In an effort to attract more non-gamblers to Atlantic City, the city (and New Jersey governor Chris Christie) has given Bass Pro Shops a warm welcome on the boardwalk. The retailer has opened a 85,000-square-foot store a few blocks away from the casinos. Mayor Don Guardian says he expects 750,000 people a year will visit the store.
The Bass Pro Shops in AC features a two-story artificial waterfall and a 13,000-gallon aquarium. The Mayor is hopeful that when people come to Bass Pro Shops, “they’ll also see this is still a great city for dining, shopping and to stay over.” That’s one big bet.
