April 24 must have a nice ring to it, because marketers have chosen 4/24 for two very highly anticipated–if different–events. You may have heard that Apple is making a watch? The company has been advertising 4.24 as the breathless release date for the world-changing device. (Now that date seems to have been a little ambitious–4.24 is actually the day you can go to the Apple Store and try on an Apple Watch, but you can’t bring it home–yet.) No worries for Apple, which already pre-sold nearly $1 billion of Apple Watches as of last week.
So you can’t get the Apple Watch on 4.24. But if interviewer Diane Sawyer is on her game, you’ll get all of former Olympic champion, reality show star and reportedly transgender Bruce Jenner. Sawyer will conduct an exclusive, presumably exhaustive 2-hour interview with Jenner on–yup–April 24. That’s Friday, 4/24 at 9pm on ABC. “My whole life has been getting me ready for this,” says Jenner. (Which is exactly how a lot of Apple fanboys and fangirls feel about the Apple Watch!) It’s expected to be Apple’s most successful product ever. Do you think more people will buy an Apple Watch on 4.24 than watch Bruce Jenner’s interview? Should be close. Apple sold 10 million iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models in the first weekend. Sawyer would love to draw those numbers.
