The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are winning Barcelona so far. The phones won’t be available until April 10, but in Spain at the Mobile World Congress Samsung is making a statement during Sunday’s sneak peeks. Samsung suffered reputation setbacks with the S5, and then Apple made it worse for Samsung with the world beating iPhone 6 launch. Thing is, the S5 was actually strong on functionality–and the display was terrific. But the S5 wasn’t sleek–it was a Camry compared to Apple’s Porsche.
So Samsung didn’t hire Jony Ive, but it got the message. And the Galaxy S6–especially the S6 Edge–is no Camry. These are the best looking devices Samsung has ever made. The leap from plastic to metal casing is the most obvious look/feel improvement. Gorilla Glass 4 front and back. Samsung seems to have left no aesthetic detail unimproved. And the technology advances keep pace with the design upgrade. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are two very good-looking, powerful devices.
