Mark Cuban is tired of watching his star guard Monta Ellis getting knocked around. Ellis doesn’t get the calls that other elite aggressive NBA guards get–and the frustrated Mavs owner is betting fans are tired of it too. Cuban has gone through the regular channels. The Mavs put together a list of the offending non-calls on Ellis for the league office. But the result has been zilch. “I’m not even expecting the league to change,” he says.
Cuban doesn’t mind getting fined for complaining. But as a businessman looking to pivot to solve the problem, Cuban is going to his roots for this one. He’s an Internet billionaire, after all–and maybe the Internet holds the answer. If the NBA won’t listen to him, it had better listen to its customers. So Cuban is encouraging Mavs fans to post instances of the ridiculous non-calls everywhere online. “I’m hoping fans,” he says, “every time that happens, fans post a video of it so everybody can see it.” NBA commissioner Adam Silver may be able to ignore one unhappy owner, but what if Monta Ellis getting hit in the face goes viral? Then Silver will have to do something.
It’s criminal how Monta doesn’t get calls Pushed.Hit in face.Hit on arm.Im tired of turning in calls.Fans need to post video to wake NBA up.
