Jeremy Lin was in his element against the 76ers. The Lakers were able to get out in transition and even in the half-court offense Lin made smart, attacking choices all night. Lin scored 29 on 10 of 16 shooting and dished five assists. It was a signature effort by Lin–and one the league’s GMs will be replaying once Lin becomes a free agent at the end of this year. That is, at the end of Jeremy Lin’s difficult servitude under coach Byron Scott. Scott has seemed strangely determined to keep Lin from succeeding.
Lin came out hungry, getting to the free throw line (7-8)–a significant part of his offensive game. Lin’s a big, strong guard who can use his body inside. Granted, this was a battle between two woeful teams, but Lakers rolled 101-87. And Lin put some highlights on the video his agent is going to be sending around. Can Lin do this against better competition? He’d have to get some playing time to know.
